It can be costly to your heirs to pass such assets because of heavy tax consequences. By naming the Carolina Meadows Foundation as a beneficiary you maintain control over the asset while living, but at your death, the plan passes to support Carolina Meadows Foundation free of both estate and income taxes. Donors should consult with their tax advisor regarding the tax benefits of such gifts. Making a charitable gift by designating a beneficiary is easy and does not involve a lawyer.
